The Livingston Parish Library recently announced its events for October.

Storytelling hours for babies up to age 5 help develop pre-reading skills while having fun, the library said. The group reads books, puts on puppet shows, sings, plays games, and does crafts. It meets at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday at the Livingston Main Branch, Albany-Springfield Branch, South Branch and Watson Branch.

A story hour for babies and toddlers up to age 2 meets every Monday and Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Denham Springs-Walker branch.

October 7 at 5:30 pm: A Very “Spooky” Halloween Party (ages 3 to 7) Celebrate Halloween with the residents of Richard Scarry’s “Busytown”. A story, video and crafts are planned.

October 8 at 10:30 am: Wiggle Worms: Music and movement (0-5 years old)

Oct. 12 at 1 p.m .: Swirly Pumpkin crafts for ages 18 and over

October 13 at 10:30 a.m .: Story time Author’s visit: Kat Pigott (0-5 years old). Local author Kat Pigott will share her recently released “Rougarou Stew” with a Monster Storytime, Author Meet, Monster Scavenger Hunt and Craft.

October 21 at 1 p.m .: Art on 3D canvas with hot glue (18 years and over) with fall models

October 26 at 10 a.m .: The Main Branch Adult Book Club for 18+ reads both fiction and non-fiction books that are interesting in the modern world.

Oct. 28 at 5:30 p.m .: Teen Board Game Night (12-18 years old)

Oct. 30 at 1 p.m .: Pumpkin decoration with a twist (all ages). Bring your own mini pumpkin and use the included craft supplies to decorate it or make pumpkin crafts where no pumpkin is required.

October 12 at 6 p.m .: Bad Art Night: Monster Edition (16 years old and over). Come and make Bad Art Monsters. Leave your good taste at home and let your creativity run wild.

Oct 14 at 5:30 p.m .: Hootie Reads (8-11 years old). Discover some fascinating facts about owls in the series “Owl Diaries”, “The Last Firehawk” and “Guardians of Ga’hoole”. Also the movie “The Legend of the Guardians”, crafts and owl snacks.

October 20 at 10:30 a.m .: Story time Author’s visit: Kat Pigott (0-5 years old).

Oct 25 at 10 a.m .: Albany-Springfield Adult Book Club, ages 18 and over, reads fiction, non-fiction, and biographies to help members grow.

Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m .: Pumpkin painting (18 years old and over). Pumpkin painting and cinema program. Bring a pumpkin to the library and use our supplies to create a festive pumpkin decoration.

Oct. 28 at 6 p.m .: A very “scary” Halloween party (3-7 years old).

November 9 at 5:30 p.m .: Hot Glue 3D Canvas Art (18+) with Fall Models

Oct. 4 at 9.45 a.m .: Book Babies (0-2 years old). Older siblings are welcome to attend and are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal friend so they can play the game.

Oct. 5 at 2 p.m .: Swirly Pumpkin crafts for ages 18 and over

Oct 6 at 5 p.m .: Teen Hangout (12-18 years old). Video games, board games, activities, crafts, snacks and more

Oct 11 at 9.45am: Book Babies (0-2 years old)

Oct. 11 at 5.30 p.m .: Board game evening (12 years old and over). Try the library collection, which features traditional, casual, and strategy games. Space is also available for tabletop role-playing games.

Oct. 13 at 2 p.m .: Easy buckets (18+). Bring a sewing machine for a sit-and-sew at the library. Each month will feature a different project that’s fairly easy to complete in two hours. September is a chenille flannel potholder with supplied fabric. Look for future projects and supply lists on the website.

October 13 at 5 p.m.: Teen Pop-Psychology Extravagance! (Ages 12-18): Immerse yourself in personalities with popular sorting quizzes such as the Myers-Briggs, Enneagram, Pottermore Hogwarts House Sorter and more.

Oct. 14 at 6 p.m .: STEM Superstars (8-11 years old)

October 15 at 10:30 am: Wiggle Worms: Music and movement (0-5 years old)

Oct. 20 at 2 p.m .: Hooks & Loops Crochet Club (18 and over). All levels of experience are welcome. Beginners will learn how to make a flowerpot. Other levels can work alone or participate in a group project. Hooks and yarn will be provided, but don’t hesitate to bring your own.

Oct. 20 at 5 p.m .: Teen Advisory Board (12-18 years old). Do you want to help in the library? Join a teen advisory committee to suggest programs you would like to see, volunteer at the branch, and help choose books for our young adult sections.

Oct. 21 at 11 a.m .: Book club (18 years old and over). Check out the variety of books for fall: From Dogs to Dickens.

Oct. 21 at 6 p.m .: Pumpkin decoration with a twist (all ages). Bring a mini pumpkin and use the provided craft supplies to decorate it or make pumpkin crafts where no pumpkin is required.

Oct. 5 at 10:30 a.m .: Joyful readings (18 years and over). Coffee and chat at the Joyful Reads Book Club. Each month offers a different inspiration book.

Oct. 5 at 5:30 p.m .: Something In between Book Club (8-14 years old). Meets every two months on even months. Discussed the good, the bad or “something in between” about a selected title. Offers refreshments and activities based on the book being read.

Oct 14 at 5:30 p.m .: Pumpkin decoration with a twist (all ages). Bring a mini pumpkin and use the provided craft supplies to decorate it or make pumpkin crafts where no pumpkin is required.

October 16 at 6.30 p.m .: Outdoor movie night: Hocus Pocus (all ages). Dress up in your favorite costume, grab something to hold candy, and attend an outdoor screening of the classic Halloween movie “Hocus Pocus”. Trick-or-treat starts at 6:30 p.m. Outdoor movie starts at 7:00 p.m. Popcorn and goodies provided. Bring your own chairs or blankets.

Oct. 19 at 5:30 p.m .: Pumpkin painting (18 years old and over). Pumpkin painting and cinema program. Bring a pumpkin to the library and use the supplies provided to create a festive pumpkin decoration.

Oct 21 at 5:30 p.m .: Teen Board Game Night (12-18 years old). Board games, card games and tabletop role-playing games with friends and family. Come play our games or bring your own.
