Creative play is invaluable in promoting lifelong learning and early literacy development in children. Spark your child’s imagination with help from your Guelph Public Library. Now available in all libraries, the new lending collection of toys for babies up to 3 years old. These educational toys are made from natural materials, contain no electronic parts, and encourage children to explore the fun of playing at their level and ability.

“We look forward to making a positive impact on the minds of the children of Guelph by making these high quality toys available to everyone,” says Christy Giesler, Supervisor of the Scottsdale branch. “What I love most about this lending toy collection is our ability to connect people to resources they might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience.”

This toy loan collection is made possible by a generous donation from the Schneider family, in memory of Kiera Schneider and the special role the library played in her life, as well as an exciting new partnership with the Toy Exchange Club. This collaboration gives a second life to these toys and creates equitable access to their benefits for all in our community.

“I created the Toy Exchange Club to make children’s play more sustainable by using a sharing economy model, eliminating plastic toys and reducing toy and packaging waste,” says Carissa Bourrie, owner of the Toy Exchange Club. “This partnership extends this vision further. I am truly thrilled to be working with the library on this project and look forward to seeing the results of our collective impact.

Visit any library today with your library card to check out these educational toys for up to three weeks or place your catch in the library catalog by searching for “educational toys”, then select the nearest library for to get them back !
